The idea of 'Between Dreams' began after I was invited to live paint Dragon Dreaming festival, and before I started noting anything down I found myself thinking about what that weekend would actually felt like rather than what it looked like.
There’s this really specific state you drop into when you’re dancing with your friends and the music’s going and the sky feels huge above you, and for a while nothing heavy can quite reach you. You’re not thinking about responsibilities or emails or the next week ahead, you’re just there, completely present, just floating in it.
That’s the feeling I wanted to hold onto. Not the literal festival, not the crowd or the music, but that lightness. That slightly dreamlike state where everything feels airy and expansive and you feel lifted above the usual noise. The pastel skies, the bright pinks and blues, the fluffy clouds all came from that place. I kept softening and layering the colours until it felt like you could almost step into it, drop your shoulders and breathe deeply.
The stone in the centre wasn’t meant to be a heart at first. It slowly shaped itself that way as I was painting, and when a friend pointed it out, it felt all kinds of right. It felt like your heart sitting in the middle of that floating state, expressive and open but steady at the same time. Like even when everything feels light and dreamy there’s still something grounded holding you there.
This painting feels like a little memory of that weekend for me. It’s my most polished and detailed piece so far, but it carries a softness. Every time I look at it I’m reminded of that feeling of dancing, connection, and being fully in the moment without trying to be anywhere else. I hope you love this piece as much as I do, she really is a special one.
Artwork Details
Original, one-of-one artwork – this is the only piece of its kind. There are no duplicates and it will not be recreated in the same form.
Medium: acrylic on canvas – created by hand using layered techniques to build depth, softness, and subtle movement throughout the sky and stone heart.
Size: 40 x 50 cm – an intimate but impactful scale that allows the details and texture to be appreciated up close while still holding presence on a wall.
Framing: Professionally framed in a Japanese Black Ash Hand-Stained wood. The framing has been selected to complement the tones of the piece while allowing the artwork to remain the focal point.
Ready to hang: The artwork arrives fully framed with secure backing and hardware installed, so it can be placed and enjoyed immediately.
Care: This original has been sealed with a protective varnish to preserve colour and surface integrity over time. The varnish gives the piece a subtle reflective finish, meaning light may shift gently across the surface depending on its placement.
As the artwork is not framed behind glass, it is recommended to hang it away from direct sunlight and high-moisture areas to ensure longevity. Dust lightly with a soft, dry cloth if needed.
Shipping: Each original is carefully packaged with protective layers and cushioning to ensure it arrives safely. Framed artworks are boxed securely and handled with care.
Please allow additional time for processing and delivery as originals require thoughtful packing. Tracking details will be provided once dispatched.
A Note on Originals
This is the original artwork created by hand in my studio. It carries the natural variations, brush textures, and subtle shifts in pigment that only exist in a one-of-one piece. These details are not flaws, they are part of the painting’s history and what make it completely unique.
Original artworks hold the physical layers of the creative process: the time spent building colour, the quiet adjustments, the small decisions made along the way. Once sold, this piece will not be recreated or reproduced in this exact form. It will remain entirely yours.
