'Numina' Original Artwork

'Numina' has actually been sitting in my mind for a long time. I’ve always wanted to paint a glowing woman in a forest, not just because it looks beautiful, but because of what she represents to me.

I’ve always felt really connected to nature, especially forests. There’s something about being surrounded by trees and water that feels grounding and bigger than you at the same time. I kept thinking about the idea of forest spirits and guardians, and how many cultures talk about nature as something alive and sacred. I wanted to explore that in my own way.

When I started painting her, I wasn’t just thinking about the visual. I was thinking about presence. About protection. About what it would feel like if the forest had a quiet guardian watching over it. I didn’t want her to feel separate from the space. I wanted her to feel like she belongs there completely, like she’s made of the same energy as the trees and the water around her.

Getting the glow right mattered to me. I wanted it to feel like it comes from within her, not like something shining on her. The reflection in the water felt important, too, because it anchors her. It makes her feel real, grounded, part of the environment rather than just standing in it.

'Numina' represents the strength of nature, of the divine feminine. She’s steady, protective and present. I hope you connect with her as much as I did, bringing her to life.

Artwork Details

Original, one-of-one artwork – this is the only piece of its kind. There are no duplicates and it will not be recreated in the same form.

Medium: gouache on canvas – created by hand using layered techniques to build depth.

Size: 13" x 16" – an intimate but impactful scale that allows the details and texture to be appreciated up close while still holding presence on a wall.

Framing: Professionally framed in a Japanese Black Ash Hand-Stained wood. The framing has been selected to complement the tones of the piece while allowing the artwork to remain the focal point.

Ready to hang: The artwork arrives fully framed with secure backing and hardware installed, so it can be placed and enjoyed immediately.

Care: This original has been sealed with a protective varnish to preserve colour and surface integrity over time. The varnish gives the piece a subtle reflective finish, meaning light may shift gently across the surface depending on its placement.

As the artwork is not framed behind glass, it is recommended to hang it away from direct sunlight and high-moisture areas to ensure longevity. Dust lightly with a soft, dry cloth if needed.

Shipping: Each original is carefully packaged with protective layers and cushioning to ensure it arrives safely. Framed artworks are boxed securely and handled with care.
