Cascading waterfalls drift across floating islands, suspended in a dreamlike expanse of sky. Inspired by my recent trip to Japan, this piece draws deeply from the landscapes and symbolism I encountered there. I was especially captivated by the meaning of torii gates—the passage into spiritual realms, the crossing from the everyday into the sacred.
When I painted World’s Above, I wanted to capture that same sense of crossing over. The waterfalls and floating islands became portals in themselves—inviting you to step into a place where the physical dissolves, and the spirit is lifted above the clouds. It’s an artwork about transcendence, serenity, and the rare stillness we find when we truly pause and breathe.
